Eligibility Criteria for Accreditation
Establishing Readiness for International Quality Recognition
The International Education Board (IEB) has defined clear eligibility criteria to ensure that only legitimate, ethical, and quality-focused institutions enter the accreditation process. Meeting eligibility criteria confirms readiness to apply but does not guarantee accreditation, which is granted only after formal evaluation.
General Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for IEB accreditation, an institution or education provider must:
-
Be legally established and operational in its country or jurisdiction
-
Offer structured education, training, or learning programs with defined outcomes
-
Demonstrate a commitment to quality assurance, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement
-
Maintain transparent governance and administrative responsibility
-
Comply with applicable local laws, regulations, and statutory requirements
IEB accreditation is voluntary and non-governmental and does not replace national approvals, licenses, or regulatory recognition.
Eligible Education Providers
IEB considers applications from a wide range of education and training institutions, including:
Higher & General Education
-
Universities and higher education institutions
-
Colleges and pre-university education providers
-
Schools (primary, secondary, and senior secondary)
-
Homeschooling and alternative education programs
-
Online, distance, and blended learning platforms
Professional, Healthcare & Specialized Education
-
Healthcare education and training institutions
-
Aesthetic, cosmetology, and medical aesthetics education providers
-
Dental education and advanced dental training institutions
-
Allied health, wellness, and clinical skill training providers
Skill Enhancement, CPD & Vocational Education
-
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) providers
-
Skill enhancement and vocational training institutions
-
Professional certification and competency-based programs
-
Technical, managerial, and industry-focused training providers
Institutional Readiness Criteria
Applicants should demonstrate readiness across the following areas:
-
Academic Quality & Integrity: Defined curricula, learning objectives, and assessment methods
-
Faculty & Trainers: Qualified teaching staff with relevant expertise
-
Program Delivery: Structured delivery models, learning resources, and evaluation mechanisms
-
Learner Support: Student services, guidance systems, and grievance mechanisms
-
Governance & Ethics: Ethical policies, transparency, and accountability
-
Digital Presence: Functional and accurate website reflecting institutional offerings
Category-Specific Considerations
While IEB applies a unified accreditation framework, additional sector-specific standards may apply depending on the education category, such as:
-
Clinical safety and ethical practice for healthcare and aesthetic education
-
Assessment integrity for online and distance learning
-
Safeguarding and parental accountability for homeschooling programs
-
Industry relevance and outcome alignment for skill and CPD programs
These considerations are reviewed as part of the accreditation evaluation process.
Non-Eligibility & Exclusions
The following entities are not eligible for IEB accreditation:
-
Unregistered or illegally operating institutions
-
Diploma mills or entities offering misleading qualifications
-
Institutions making false claims of government or statutory recognition
-
Organizations engaged in unethical, unsafe, or deceptive educational practices
IEB reserves the right to reject or discontinue applications that compromise public trust or quality standards.
Important Clarification
Meeting eligibility criteria allows an institution to apply for accreditation but does not imply approval. Accreditation is granted only after:
-
Document review
-
Independent evaluation
-
Committee decision
-
Compliance with IEB standards and policies
Next Step
Institutions that meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to proceed with an Expression of Interest (EOI) or submit an Application for Accreditation.
