Code of Ethics
Upholding Integrity, Trust, and Responsibility in Education
The International Education Board (IEB) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct in all its accreditation, evaluation, and advisory activities. This Code of Ethics defines the principles and values that guide IEB’s decisions, actions, and relationships with educational institutions, stakeholders, and the wider global education community.
IEB’s ethical framework ensures that accreditation and quality assurance processes are conducted with integrity, independence, fairness, and transparency, fostering public confidence and institutional trust.
1. Independence and Objectivity
IEB operates as an independent, non-governmental authority. All accreditation and evaluation decisions are made free from political, commercial, or personal influence. Assessments are based solely on evidence, compliance with standards, and objective evaluation criteria.
2. Integrity and Transparency
IEB conducts all activities with honesty, openness, and accountability. Accreditation criteria, processes, and decisions are communicated clearly to institutions, ensuring transparency and consistency throughout the evaluation process.
3. Fairness and Equal Treatment
IEB ensures equal and impartial treatment of all institutions and programs, regardless of geographic location, size, educational model, or ownership structure. Decisions are based on merit and documented evidence, without discrimination or bias.
4. Respect for National Laws and Regulations
IEB respects the sovereignty of national education systems and regulatory authorities. Accreditation activities are conducted in alignment with applicable laws and regulations, and IEB does not replace or override statutory or governmental bodies.
5. Confidentiality and Data Protection
IEB maintains strict confidentiality of institutional information, documentation, and evaluation findings. All data is handled responsibly and in accordance with applicable data protection and privacy regulations.
6. Ethical Use of Accreditation Status
Institutions accredited or recognized by IEB must use the accreditation status, name, and logo responsibly and accurately. Misrepresentation or misleading claims related to IEB accreditation are considered a breach of ethical conduct.
7. Continuous Improvement and Accountability
IEB promotes a culture of continuous improvement in education. Accredited institutions are expected to maintain compliance with standards, engage in ongoing quality enhancement, and cooperate with monitoring and review processes.
8. Learner-Centered Focus and Protection
IEB places learners at the center of its ethical framework. Accreditation standards emphasize learner welfare, academic integrity, fairness in assessment, and the provision of safe and supportive learning environments.
9. Professional Conduct and Responsibility
IEB representatives, assessors, and partners are required to act professionally, avoid conflicts of interest, and uphold ethical behavior in all interactions. Any potential conflict must be disclosed and managed transparently.
10. Commitment to Global Education Quality
Through this Code of Ethics, IEB reaffirms its commitment to advancing quality, credibility, and trust in education worldwide. Ethical practice remains fundamental to IEB’s mission of supporting institutions and learners across diverse education systems.
