Accreditation Validity, Monitoring & Review Cycle

“Accreditation That Is Maintained, Monitored, and Earned Over Time.”

Ensuring Ongoing Quality, Accountability, and Trust
Accreditation granted by the International Education Board (IEB) reflects an institution’s demonstrated alignment with defined quality standards at a given point in time. To maintain credibility and public confidence, IEB applies structured mechanisms for accreditation validity, ongoing monitoring, and periodic review.
This approach reinforces that accreditation is not a one-time recognition, but an ongoing commitment to quality assurance, ethical practice, and continuous improvement.

Accreditation Validity Period
IEB accreditation is granted for a defined validity period, as specified in the accreditation decision letter.
The validity period:

  • Reflects the category, scope, and complexity of the institution or program

  • Is subject to continued compliance with IEB standards

  • May vary across education sectors where appropriate

Accreditation remains valid only while institutions maintain alignment with applicable standards and obligations.

Ongoing Monitoring & Quality Oversight
During the validity period, accredited institutions are subject to ongoing monitoring to ensure sustained compliance and quality enhancement.
Monitoring mechanisms may include:

  • Periodic institutional reporting

  • Review of academic, operational, or training outcomes

  • Verification of continued ethical and professional practices

  • Review of public information, including institutional websites

Monitoring is designed to be proportionate, transparent, and supportive of institutional improvement.

Periodic Review & Reassessment
IEB conducts periodic reviews as part of its quality assurance cycle.
Periodic review may involve:

  • Submission of updated institutional information

  • Evidence of quality improvement initiatives

  • Reassessment of key accreditation standards

  • Independent evaluation where required

The purpose of review is to confirm that accreditation status remains justified and reflective of current institutional performance.

Renewal of Accreditation
Prior to the expiry of the accreditation validity period, institutions may apply for renewal of accreditation.
Renewal requires:

  • Demonstrated continued compliance with IEB standards

  • Evidence of institutional development and improvement

  • Satisfactory outcomes from monitoring and review activities

Renewal decisions are made following an independent evaluation process.

Corrective Actions & Compliance Measures
Where areas of non-compliance or concern are identified, IEB may require corrective actions.
Corrective measures may include:

  • Submission of improvement plans

  • Time-bound corrective action reporting

  • Additional monitoring or focused review

IEB’s objective is to support institutions in addressing deficiencies while safeguarding educational quality and integrity.

Suspension or Withdrawal of Accreditation
IEB reserves the right to suspend or withdraw accreditation where serious or persistent non-compliance is identified.
Such actions may be considered in cases including, but not limited to:

  • Breach of ethical standards

  • Misrepresentation of accreditation status

  • Failure to comply with required monitoring or corrective actions

  • Significant deterioration in educational quality

Decisions are taken following due process and independent review.

Appeals & Institutional Representation
Institutions have the right to seek review or appeal of certain accreditation-related decisions in accordance with IEB’s established procedures.
Appeal mechanisms are designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and procedural integrity.

Voluntary & Non-Governmental Status
IEB operates as an independent, private, non-statutory international body. Accreditation does not replace statutory approvals, licensing, or regulatory recognition required by national authorities.
Institutions remain responsible for compliance with all applicable laws and regulations within their jurisdiction.

Commitment to Continuous Quality Assurance
Through defined validity periods, monitoring, and review cycles, IEB safeguards the integrity and value of its accreditation.
IEB accreditation represents an ongoing commitment to quality, accountability, and responsible education delivery worldwide.
